Brazilian 21‑year‑old Rafael Camara, who is leading the Formula 2 championship, has been signed by Haas to race in Formula 1 starting in 2027. He was chosen after testing at Portimao, beating the reigning F2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli and Haas reserve drivers Jack Doohan and Ryo Hirakawa. The move follows the announced departure of Esteban Ocon and leaves the second Haas seat likely to go to Oliver Bearman.
