Sir Garfield Sobers

Sir Garfield Sobers, the legendary West Indian all‑rounder, was honoured with a state funeral at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. Former captain Sir Clive Lloyd, along with other cricket greats and national leaders, celebrated Sobers’ impact on the sport and Caribbean culture. The ceremony featured speeches, a guard of honour with cricket bats, and a procession through the capital.

Legendary West Indies all-rounder Sir Garfield Sobers, widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers, has died at the age of 89. Sobers played 93 Tests between 1954 and 1974, scoring 8,032 runs and taking 235 wickets, and was knighted for his services to cricket in 1975.
