Walsh Breaks Own Record Again, Reclaims 50m Freestyle Crown in Rome
American swimmer Gretchen Walsh broke the women’s 50m freestyle world record with a time of 23.55 seconds at the Sette Colli meeting in Rome, surpassing her training partner Kate Douglass’s record set nine days earlier. Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom, the previous record holder, finished second.
