Daniel Wiffen

Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen narrowly missed a medal, finishing fourth in the 800m freestyle final at the Tollcross Swimming Centre. He was beaten by Australian Matthew Galea and others, while Sam Short won the 400m event. Wiffen will aim to rebound in the upcoming 1500m final, where he previously won bronze at the Paris Olympics.

Northern Irish swimmer Daniel Wiffen, a double Olympic gold medallist, looks ahead to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where he will contest the 400m, 800m and 1500m events. He says the Games are his next target after a silver in Birmingham and vows to add gold medals to his collection, calling himself a “medal guarantee”.
