Manchester Thunder won their fifth Netball Super League title with a 54-51 win over London Pulse. The match was played at Co-op Live in front of over 8,000 fans.
Northampton Saints won their third Premiership Rugby title by beating Exeter Chiefs 26-17 in the final at Allianz Stadium. George Hendy’s two tries in the second half secured the win for Saints.
Oxford United have announced that head coach Matt Bloomfield has left the club. Bloomfield was appointed in January and despite some encouraging results, he was unable to keep the team in the Championship and they were relegated to League One.
British heavyweight Moses Itauma will face Filip Hrgovic at London’s O2 Arena on August 29. Itauma is currently unbeaten with a record of 14-0, while Hrgovic has a record of 21-1.
Hull KR defeated Leigh Leopards 22-8, with tries from Burgess, Hiku, Whitbread, and Leyland. The win keeps Hull KR unbeaten at home since March 1.
England XV lost to France XV in a summer warm-up match. France XV proved too skilful for England, easing away to a comfortable victory that demonstrated their greater strength in depth.
England full-back Ellie Kildunne has signed for Bristol Bears ahead of the 2026-27 season. Kildunne, a World Cup winner and former World Player of the Year, has been capped 62 times by England, scoring 48 tries. She joins Bristol Bears from Harlequins.
British two-time Olympic medallist Asha Philip has announced her retirement from athletics. The 35-year-old was part of the 4x100m relay teams that won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Games. Philip had a 19-year career which involved overcoming a serious knee injury in 2007.
Former England goalkeeper Mary Earps has joined London City Lionesses on a two-year deal. Earps left Paris St-Germain after two seasons and will bring a wealth of experience to the team.
Burnley is looking for a new manager after Scott Parker left by mutual consent in April. Craig Bellamy, the current Wales boss, has been identified as a potential candidate. Burnley has contacted the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to discuss Bellamy’s availability.
