Wales women’s rugby has been dealt a blow ahead of their second WXV Global Series test against the USA, with scrum-half Seren Lockwood ruled out after failing a head injury assessment sustained during the previous match.
Lockwood’s withdrawal came following the team’s victory over South Africa, forcing head coach Sean Lynn to reorganise the half-back pairing for the upcoming fixture. The decision to stand down the playmaker underscores the importance of player welfare protocols in the modern game.

Lynn acknowledged the difficult nature of losing a key player but emphasised the necessity of adhering to injury management procedures. “It’s always sad to see an individual coming off, but the HIA is great to have on board, we’re looking after her, she’s not going to be available this weekend, but I’m super excited to see the half‑back combination that we’ve got this week,” the coach said.

To address the reshuffle, Lynn has opted for Lleucu George at fly-half and Keira Bevan at scrum-half, pairing two experienced operators in the crucial positions.
