Great Britain Cycling Team will field a formidable contingent at the 2026 UCI Track World Championships in Shanghai, running 14–18 October, showcasing the nation’s depth across sprint, keirin and endurance disciplines.
The squad features Olympic team sprint champions Emma Finucane and Sophie Capewell, who will anchor the British challenge in pursuit of world titles. The roster is bolstered by eight world-title holders and eight Olympic medallists, reflecting the competitive strength being assembled for the Shanghai event.
Experience and Emerging Talent
The endurance ranks include reigning individual pursuit world champion Anna Morris, alongside veterans Ethan Vernon, Mark Stewart and Ollie Wood. Emerging endurance prospects Millie Couzens, Erin Boothman and Abi Miller bring additional depth, while Noah Hobbs, Henry Hobbs and Matt Bostock round out the longer-distance contingent.
Sprint credentials are substantial, with European sprint champion Matt Richardson leading the charge alongside Olympic team sprint silver medallist Ed Lowe and sprint rider Joe Truman. Harry Ledingham-Horn contributes Commonwealth Games silver and bronze medals to the sprint programme.
Resilience Amid Transitions
Recent squad changes have shaped the selection, with the retirements of reigning Madison world champion Katie Archibald and Olympic team sprint champion Katy Marchant marking significant departures from the programme. These losses are offset by the presence of former world champions Meg Barker and Josie Knight, alongside Glasgow gold medallist Lowri Thomas and world and Commonwealth medallist Rhianna Parris-Smith.
The Championships will be broadcast live on BBC platforms, ensuring British audiences can follow their track cycling representatives as they compete against an international field including Dutch keirin, sprint, 1km time trial and team sprint champion Harrie Lavreysen and other elite performers.
