Ireland women’s cricket team have recalled all-rounder Arlene Kelly and batter Alice Tector to their 14-player squad for the upcoming one-day international series against England, with both players having recovered from injuries sustained during the recent West Indies campaign.
The squad, named by head coach Lloyd Tennant and selector Lauren Rowles, will be led by captain Gaby Lewis, with Orla Prendergast serving as deputy captain. The trio of matches against England forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship and begins on 1 September in Leicester.
Kelly and Tector’s return strengthens Ireland’s options across batting and all-round depth after their absence from the West Indies fixtures. The squad has been carefully constructed to maximise player availability, with Rowles emphasising the importance of squad competition in driving standards.
“To have genuine competition for places within a senior squad is important as it drives standards and raises the desire of players to achieve more with every opportunity they get,” Rowles stated.
The squad announcement confirms that several players remain sidelined, with Aimee Maguire, Sarah Forbes, and Ava Canning not included due to ongoing injury concerns. The recalled contingent also features Christina Coulter Reilly and Lara McBride among the 14 players preparing for the England challenge.
