British two-time Olympic medallist Asha Philip has announced her retirement from athletics. The 35-year-old was part of the 4x100m relay teams that won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Games. Philip had a 19-year career which involved overcoming a serious knee injury in 2007.
Former England goalkeeper Mary Earps has joined London City Lionesses on a two-year deal. Earps left Paris St-Germain after two seasons and will bring a wealth of experience to the team.
Burnley is looking for a new manager after Scott Parker left by mutual consent in April. Craig Bellamy, the current Wales boss, has been identified as a potential candidate. Burnley has contacted the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to discuss Bellamy’s availability.
The London Marathon will be held over two days in 2027, allowing 100,000 people to participate. The event will take place on Saturday, 24 and Sunday, 25 April. This one-off edition is expected to raise over £150m for charities and provide a £400m boost to the UK economy.
Olympic medallist Jenny Simpson is recovering in hospital after collapsing at an event in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is showing encouraging improvement and has already asked about her mile time and whether she won. Simpson won gold in the 1500m at the 2011 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Exeter Chiefs’ star wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has been cleared to play in Saturday’s Prem final against Northampton. Feyi-Waboso suffered a facial fracture in Exeter’s victory against Leicester at the end of May but has been declared fit after England signed off on his recovery.
England have been drawn to play Greece in round one of the 2027 Women’s World Cup play-offs. The Lionesses must get through two rounds of home and away ties to qualify for the tournament in Brazil.
Salford City appointed Peter Cklamovski as their new manager on a long-term contract. Cklamovski has a reputation for having an attack-minded style and brings a fresh approach to the club.
British tennis player Arthur Fery has reached the quarter-finals of the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club after beating Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. Fery, ranked 140 in the world, won 7-6 (9-7) 6-4.
England beat Ireland by four wickets in the Women’s T20 World Cup, but captain Nat Sciver-Brunt suffered a calf injury scare. Sciver-Brunt retired on 48 and left the field as a precaution due to tightness in her left calf. England now has two wins from two matches in the tournament.
