Leicestershire Foxes secured their passage to the One-Day Cup final with a commanding 23-run victory over Notts Outlaws in the semi-final at Grace Road.
The Foxes posted an imposing 303-7 in 50 overs, built around a century from batsman Hamza Shaikh, who proved the difference-maker in a high-scoring encounter. Shaikh’s substantial contribution provided Leicestershire with the platform needed to set a competitive total on a batting-friendly surface.
Foxes Dominate With Bat and Ball
Alongside Shaikh, batsman Nick Kelly made meaningful contributions as Leicestershire constructed their innings methodically through all 50 overs. The partnership between the Foxes’ top-order batsmen prevented any sustained collapse and ensured they maximised their resources in the powerplay and death overs.
Notts Outlaws mounted a spirited response but ultimately fell short, reaching 280 all out in their innings. Despite efforts from bowler Liam Patterson-White and all-rounder Rehan Ahmed, the Outlaws could not bridge the gap created by Leicestershire’s first-innings dominance.

The Foxes’ bowling unit proved decisive in restricting their opponents. All-rounder Rehan Ahmed played a key role, whilst bowler Dillon Pennington and Alex Green applied pressure throughout Notts’ chase. Collectively, they prevented the Outlaws from building the partnerships necessary to overhaul Leicestershire’s total.
Captain Haseeb Hameed led his side to victory in what represents a significant achievement for the franchise. The semi-final triumph sends Leicestershire to their second One-Day Cup final in four years, marking sustained excellence in this competition.
