Heart of Midlothian’s owner Tony Bloom has doubled down on his commitment to winning the Scottish Premiership, establishing 2035 as the deadline for the Edinburgh club to claim their first league title in decades. The Brighton chairman made clear the stakes of his ambitious timeline, stating: “I’d be really disappointed if Hearts have not won the Scottish Premiership within the 10 years.”
Bloom’s declaration comes after a turbulent period at Tynecastle that included significant departures from the squad and coaching staff. Derek McInnes departed as head coach, marking a major transition in the club’s leadership structure. The exodus also extended to key players, with Lawrence Shankland, the former captain, and Cammy Devlin, the former midfielder, leaving the club. These changes represent a considerable reshaping of the team’s core personnel.
New Era Under Vrancken
The ownership has responded to recent near-misses by installing Wouter Vrancken as the current head coach, signalling a fresh direction for the Premiership outfit. This managerial appointment forms part of a broader restructuring designed to propel Hearts toward their championship objective.
Current Standing
Despite the transitions underway, Hearts currently occupy third place in the Scottish Premiership, positioning themselves within striking distance of the title race. Bloom’s 10-year window suggests he believes the club’s infrastructure and direction can be sufficiently strengthened to mount a sustained challenge for the league crown during this period.
