Wafer Sidelined for Ireland’s WXV Tests in South Africa

Aoife Wafer will miss Ireland’s upcoming WXV Global Series matches in South Africa after picking up a minor injury during training. The 23-year-old Harlequins forward has been ruled out of the fixtures scheduled for 24 and 31 October in Cape Town.

Head Coach Scott Bemand will lead the Ireland squad to South Africa without Wafer as they prepare for the two test matches. The touring party represents a significant opportunity for Bemand’s side to compete in the WXV Global Series, one of international rugby union’s premier tournaments.

Squad Leadership Changes

Captain Erin King will lead the Irish contingent in the absence of co-captain Sam Monaghan, who remains unavailable for the tour. The leadership structure reflects Bemand’s squad management ahead of the critical Cape Town tests.

Second row Ruth Campbell is among the players who will travel with the squad as Ireland prepares to face their opponents across the two-match series. The depth of the squad will be tested with Wafer’s absence from the forward ranks.
