Lee Clark has stepped down as Hartlepool United head coach with immediate effect, bringing his tenure to an abrupt end following a 3-1 home defeat to Worthing.
The loss to Worthing marked the club’s third consecutive defeat, a run of results that proved decisive in Clark’s decision to depart. In a statement, Clark declared: “I resign from my position with immediate effect.” He elaborated that he could not deliver the results that both the club and its supporters deserved.
Clark’s Brief Spell at the Helm
Clark took charge of Hartlepool United during the summer, but his time in the National League hotseat has proven disappointing. The 3-1 home loss to Worthing served as the final straw, leaving the club languishing in 18th position in the league table.
The resignation leaves owner Landon Smith and Hartlepool United facing an immediate search for a new manager to stabilise the club’s season. The departure is effective immediately, meaning the club must move swiftly to address the managerial vacancy and attempt to reverse the recent downturn in fortunes that has seen the team fail to win in their last three matches.
