Hibernian have terminated the employment of head coach David Gray following a disappointing run of results that has left the Edinburgh club struggling near the bottom of the Scottish Premiership standings. The decision comes after just six league games, with the club currently occupying ninth place in the table.
Gray’s departure was triggered by a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock, a result that proved to be the final straw for the Hibernian board. Executive Chairman Ian Gordon explained the reasoning behind the swift change, stating: “Ultimately, this is a decision that we have not taken lightly, but unfortunately, one as a board we had to make due to the recent downturn of results and performances.”
Coaching Staff Changes
The managerial upheaval extends beyond Gray, with assistant coaches Liam Craig and Craig Samson also departing the club alongside the head coach. Their exits represent a complete overhaul of the senior coaching structure at Easter Road.
Potter Takes the Helm
John Potter has been appointed as caretaker manager and will take charge for Hibernian’s upcoming fixture against Aberdeen. The interim appointment signals the club’s intention to stabilize the ship while a permanent successor to Gray is sought.
